Melanie

Document Controller

“My name is Melanie, and I work as a Document Controller at Bakker Flow Services.

With a technical background, I found my way into process engineering in 2011. For years, I worked as an operator at various companies and got to know the industry inside out.

In 2022, everything changed. Due to physical challenges, I had to say goodbye to my role as an operator. It was time for a new search—one where I could stay close to the technical side, but in a way that better suited my situation.

That’s how I ended up at Bakker Flow Services as a Document Controller. You might be wondering: how does a techie end up in documentation? Well, I’m still right in the thick of things: I work closely with the workshop, follow technical processes up close, and learn something new every day. Exactly what I was looking for: growth, engagement, and technical depth.

My work mainly involves verifying certificates for equipment that has been tested and inspected, both internally and externally. Once the certificates have been verified and approved, I ensure that the equipment is properly entered into the system and, if necessary, delivered to the customer. I also handle hotel bookings for colleagues working on-site.

The transition from physical labor to an office job took some getting used to, but I have frequent contact with the workshop and am given the opportunity to learn everything about how the industry operates. Plus, there’s a pleasant work atmosphere on the floor.”
