“My name is Yoran, and I have been working at Bakker Flow Services since February 2019. I started as an Allround Equipment Engineer, and over the past four years I have advanced in my role; since July 2023, I have been working as an HDE Supervisor (PCE Supervisor).
After completing my Mechanical Engineering program (Level 4), I finished the Magnetic Particle Inspection MT2 EN473 (ISO 9712) course in 2021, also known as MPI. I grew up in the oil and gas industry, so I’ve been interested in it from a young age. I use the knowledge I’ve gained over the years every day.
Every day is different, but a typical workday starts with a cup of coffee around 7:00 a.m. At 7:30 a.m., I begin my work in the testing department. After checking my email and reviewing the day’s schedule, I inspect the equipment and, if necessary, perform an MPI or wall thickness measurement.
Once the inspection is complete, I connect the equipment to the test stand in one of our test bays/bunkers. I enter the data from the wall thickness form onto the test certificate and start the test. If the test is successfully completed and the equipment is approved, a new test date is scheduled.
f a leak is found, we take care of the repair. Afterward, we retest the equipment to make sure the repair was successful. Once the test is successful, I make sure the equipment goes to the paint booth for a new coat of paint. In between, I help my colleagues whenever needed.
My days are very varied, but I think I have a pretty average workday on paper. What really makes my job enjoyable is the variety—no two days are the same! Plus, we have a positive and fun work atmosphere.”
