“My career began with the Royal Netherlands Navy, where I served for ten years on missions around the world. There, I not only developed my sea legs, but also discipline, leadership, and the ability to perform under pressure.
After ten years, it was time for a new direction. Given my interest in technology and the energy sector, the move to Expro was a logical next step. I worked there for twelve years and progressed from trainee to Well Testing Supervisor. It was a period during which I grew tremendously, both technically and operationally.
When the well testing department in the Netherlands closed and I made a conscious decision not to work abroad on a permanent basis because of my children, I started looking for a new challenge. After speaking with several organizations, I very deliberately chose Bakker Flow Services. The ambition, technical expertise, and vision for growth immediately appealed to me. I then joined as a Well Testing Supervisor and, together with the team, built the department into what it is today. This involved establishing a foundation based on procedures and standards, developing a competency system, and advising on the innovation and modification of well testing equipment, from which we carried out complex well testing operations both domestically and internationally.
After four years, it was time to hang up my hard hat and move into an office role as a technical sales engineer for well testing. This allowed me to immediately apply my years of expertise in this field, but from the other side of the coin. It was a very interesting journey that ultimately led to my current position as Account Manager for Oil & Gas Well Testing. I am also proud to say that I have been working at Bakker Flow Services for six years now and thoroughly enjoy it.
Within the organization, I am responsible for both our existing clients and new business within the oil & gas sector, specifically in well testing. My role starts with acquisition and networking: from the trade show floor to the boardroom, so to speak. My work continues through to the successful completion of a project. I translate client requests into a clear, technically sound scope and ensure that everything is tightly coordinated from start to finish.
What do I like best? That I can combine my technical background with commercial insight. I don’t believe in “selling just for the sake of selling.” I believe in offering solutions. Our slogan “Equipped for solutions” fits perfectly with that. It energizes me to turn complex issues into concrete projects while also bringing in exciting challenges for our crews. Winning together, executing together. We do this in collaboration with the sales & operations/engineering team, with safety as our top priority.
No two days are the same, and that’s exactly what makes it so great. One day I’m focused on business development and client meetings; the next, I’m on-site in France with a regular client or overseeing a project in progress. I also get a lot of satisfaction from supporting our field crew—whether it’s knowledge sharing, skill development, or improving equipment in collaboration with our technical departments.
What really makes Bakker Flow Services strong is the collaboration between teams. There’s a professional yet informal atmosphere. We share knowledge, help each other grow, and there’s always room for a joke. We work hard, but we enjoy ourselves so we can unwind just as hard afterward.
What makes working at BFS so rewarding for me is the combination of variety and responsibility. No two projects are alike. We work across various industries, with a wide range of clients and complex technical challenges. That keeps you on your toes. In addition, you’re truly given the freedom to take ownership here. Your opinion matters, regardless of your role. There’s plenty of room for personal, technical, and organizational development.
What I personally appreciate is the management’s clear vision. There’s ambition, there’s direction, and you’re encouraged to help build that growth. That’s energizing. At Bakker Flow Services, you’re not just a number, but a professional who makes a difference.”
